Pack Size:

1 Vial + 20ml WFI Combipack

Composition:

Each combipack contains A vial containing Meropenem (Anhydrous) 1g + 90.2mg of Sodium as sodium carbonate + Sterilized Water for Injections 20ml. 

Indications:

  • Severe pneumonia, including hospital and ventilator-associated pneumonia. 
  • Broncho-pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis 
  • Complicated urinary tract infections
  • Complicated intra-abdominal infections 
  • Intra- and post-partum infections 
  • Complicated skin and soft tissue infections 
  • Acute bacterial meningitis 
  • Meropenem may be used in the management of neutropenic patients with fever that is suspected to be due to a bacterial infection
  • Treatment of patients with bacteraemia that occurs in association with, or is suspected to be associated with, any of the infections listed above

Dosage:

Adults and children over 50kg body weight

Broncho-pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis  2g every 8 hours 
Complicated urinary tract infections  500mg or 1g every 8 hours

Side Effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The common side effects associated with Tufpenem are diarrhoea, headache, rash, pruritus, inflammation, pain nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, injection site inflammation, thrombocytosis, thrombocythemia and increased hepatic enzymes
