A letter from the CEO

To my African family,

As I reflect on our remarkable 40-year journey, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride. Our organization, Shalina Healthcare, has a profound legacy that continues to evolve, guided by a vision set forth by my father, Shiraz Virji. His vision was elegantly simple yet undeniably profound: to make quality healthcare accessible across the vast expanse of Africa.

Today, I am thrilled to report that we have not only upheld this vision but have expanded our reach into 21 countries. Our dream continues to flourish, resonating with thousands of lives across the continent.

In recent years, we have garnered strong leadership positions in Africa, not only for our pharmaceutical and everyday wellness brands but also in the realm of consumer health products. Furthermore, we have taken bold steps into the diagnostics sector, with state-of-the-art centers in Nigeria and Ghana. Our commitment to social responsibility remains unwavering. Collaborations with organizations like Mary’s Meals have already touched the lives of 2,380 children in Zambia and Kenya. Our goal for the coming year is to double this impact, positively affecting over 4,000 young lives.

In India, our Agrani River water conservation project has not only eliminated water-borne diseases but also rejuvenated local agriculture, benefiting 35,000 people. Education remains a cornerstone of our mission. The Shalina Rising Stars program in Ghana is a shining testament to our commitment. This initiative has served as a knowledge-sharing platform for over 100 resident doctors, spanning diverse specialties. Our focus extends beyond medicine; it encompasses the creation of a community of healthcare professionals who share our vision for a healthier Africa. Similar youth-related programs in other nations underscore our commitment to putting people first.

In addition to these noble initiatives, we have successfully established Operational Units (OUs) in all our African countries. These OUs have not only created employment opportunities but have also fostered personal growth and improved the standard of living for local communities.

As we set our sights on the future, our resolve to improve lives remains steadfast. Whether through the provision of essential medications, the gift of clean water, the offer of educational opportunities, or the creation of sustainable employment, we are committed for the long haul. Our investments extend beyond mere projects; they are investments in futures, in dreams, and in the legacy of trust we are building.

I am deeply grateful to every member of the Shalina Family and all our stakeholders for being an integral part of this incredible journey.  Let us stay focused on our vision, as we continue to make a meaningful difference in the world.

With heartfelt gratitude and unwavering commitment,

Shalina Clifford
