Burundi Presence

Shalina Healthcare's newest endeavour in East Africa is Burundi.This expansion underscored our steadfast dedication to making accessible, top-notch healthcare solutions available throughout East Africa.



MALI Presence

Shalina Healthcare has expanded into Mali, at the heart of French West Africa, marking a significant stride in our commitment to enhancing healthcare access across the continent with three divisions dedicated to Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Health, and Diagnostic Services.



SAHPRA Accreditation

The state-of-the-art facility at Jejuri (India) achieved the esteemed SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) accreditation.



Inaugration of Angola Soap Factory

With the aim of developing superior formulations and variants specifically tailored to meet the needs of Angolans, we opened our soap factory in Angola spanning across thousands of square meters. It adheres to stringent quality compliance measures without compromising on excellence.



International Recognition for Germol

Germol, our personal hygiene care brand, has made a significant impact on millions of lives across Sub-Saharan Africa. In July 2023, the brand was awarded the SUPERBRAND 2023 in personal hygiene category in Angola.



Launch of Optilait

Infant & child nutrition is fundamental to overall health of any community. In 2023, we entered the space of infant and child nutrition by partnering with British Biologicals. We launched Optilait, our collection of formula milks- infant formula, follow-on formula and growing up formula - with an aim that every baby in Africa receives adequate nutrition in their early formative years.



Launch of Monalisa

Monalisa is a brand crafted with the essence of Africa in mind and is available in a diverse selection of body lotions and creams.
It is a tribute to the diverse and beautiful African skin. Each product stands as a testament to our dedication to authenticity and premium quality, promising intense moisturization that lasts up to 48 hours.



Acquisition of Orange Pharma Limited in Kenya

The acquisition of Orange Pharmaceutical in Kenya was a strategic move that strengthened our position in the Kenyan pharmaceutical market where we rose to be amongst the top 5 companies. By integrating Orange Pharmaceutical’s expertise, we enhanced our product portfolio and are better able to serve the healthcare needs of the Kenyan population.



Shalina Ghana Awarded Healthcare Provider of the Year 2022

The 5th Ghana Business Awards event took place in Accra, with a total of 200 companies participating, where a distinguished judging panel awarded Shalina Healthcare Ghana as Best Healthcare Provider of the Year. From humble beginnings in November 2009, we are now one of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in Ghana.



Launch of Shalcer

GERD is a major challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa with 17% prevalence, and approx. 200 million patients suffering from GERD at a point in time Shalcer helps as it is potent, rapid and long-lasting with longer night time acid control and lesser nocturnal acid breakthrough.



Nigeria Manufacturing Plant

Shalina Healthcare Nigeria Ltd. has started an Oral Solid Dosage manufacturing facility in Nigeria in 2021. The site locates at Isheri North, Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, near Lagos. The plant is spread over a sprawling 6,100 sq. mts & currently has an annual capacity of 1.1 billion tablets & 120 million capsules. It is approved by NAFDAC and PCN.



ZAMRA approvals for Jejuri plant

Approval from ZAMRA (Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority) for the Jejuri Plant signifies that the facility has met the regulatory requirements set by ZAMRA in Zambia. This approval enables us to provide pharmaceuticals or medical products in the Zambian market, contributing to healthcare accessibility in the country.



Launch of Eficef

Eficef is a new generation Cephalosporin that provides fast & assured relief in UTI & Typhoid. It has a broad-spectrum coverage with low resistance pattern and favorable safety profile.



Start of Kenya operations & Acquisition of PMC

Shalina operations in Kenya were officially announced in 2019, following the acquisition of PMC group. In attendance were pharmaceutical partners and government boards who play an important role in fulfilling the destiny of a dream for a healthier, happier African continent.


Launch of Cardiovascular Disease & Diabetes (CVD) products

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are often called “silent killers” because heart attacks and strokes are a common first warning sign of an underlying disease. According to the World Health Organization, its prevalence is estimated to be about 20 million in the African Region. With the launch of both Roshal and Teleshal, we further cemented our commitment to fighting cardiovascular disease.



Extension of Jejuri facility

Shalina announced the inauguration of its new ointment manufacturing facility on 3rd October, 2016 at its plant in Pune, India. The state-of-the-art ointment manufacturing facility will enhance our monthly production capacity of creams to 13 million tubes and lotions to 3 million bottles. 



Launch of Shal'Artem

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 95% of world malaria cases and 96% of malaria deaths. Launched in response to such a critical healthcare need, ShalÁrtem has been a cornerstone in the fight against malaria, offering a ray of hope to countless individuals. Its path mirrors a resolute dedication to playing a pivotal role in malaria control efforts throughout the continent.



Jejuri plant received approvals from FDA & starts R&D Facility

The Jejuri plant has received approvals from the FDA, indicating compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, it has initiated it's R&D facility, suggesting a commitment to research and development efforts, leading to the development of new products and improvements in existing ones.



Launch of Shaltoux Lozenges

Sore throat - everyone knows what it feels like. One of the most common, but most irritating health complaint one can have. A decade ago, with a mission to provide a soothing solution to this irritating problem, we launched Shaltoux Lozenges.



Start of RoSS Operations

We started operations in Republic of South Sudan in 2012 and have a depot in Juba, South Sudan.



Jejuri plant received ISO 9001 Certification

The Jejuri plant obtaining ISO 9001 certification in 2012 demonstrates its commitment to quality management and adherence to international standards. This certification reflects the plant's ability to consistently provide products or services that meet customer expectations and comply with regulatory requirements.



Jejuri plant received approvals from Nigeria, DRC & Kenya

The Jejuri plant's approvals from NAFDAC - Nigeria, MOH - DRC and PPB - Kenya signify its compliance with regulatory requirements in these countries.



Launch of L'Artem

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 95% of world malaria cases and 96% of malaria deaths. Launched in response to such a critical healthcare need, L-Artem emerged as a potent anti-malarial solution in 2009. It was born from the urgent demand to combat the devastating impact of malaria.



WHO GMP and FDB Ghana approval

Our manufacturing plant in Jejuri, Maharashtra, India is both WHO-cGMP compliant and approved by the regulatory bodies of the countries we supply to. WHO-cGMP compliance refers to adherence to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines.
Our WHO status fills us with pride, and we fully support their mission of advocating for healthcare accessibility for everyone to achieve the highest level of health and well-being.



Start of CAR operations

We started operations in Central African Republic in 2008 and have a depot in Bangui region.



Acquisition of Jejuri plant

Acquired Jejuri Plant in 2008 from M/S Ranbaxy Pvt. Ltd. to ensure sustainable and consistent quality of products that are safely & effectively manufactured with Compliance to cGMP standards and all the regulatory requirements.



Start of Dubai Corporate Office

Shalina moves its corporate office to its own premises in Dubai, centralizing its global headquarters, leveraging the city's strategic location and resources. Dubai now serves as a key support center for the Operating Units, optimizing international operations and benefiting from the city's global business prominence.



Launch of Amoxy

Amoxy is an antibiotic useful for the treatment of wide range of infections, including the respiratory tract, genito-urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract and skin.



Launch of Epiderm

In sub-Saharan Africa, inflammatory and fungal/bacterial skin infections are a pervasive health concern. Epiderm was launched with the intention of providing relief from these mixed skin infections. Its 3 Way Action formula serves as a versatile remedy for a wide spectrum of skin issues such as eczema, psoriasis, rashes, dermatitis, tinea infections, and more.



Launch of Flodent

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the lack of comprehensive family-oriented oral care solutions poses significant dental health challenges. Flodent works to bridge this gap, offering families a reliable ally in oral hygiene.




Launch of Germol

Germol is a hygiene care brand in Shalina Healthcare’s portfolio. With a steadfast commitment to quality and innovation, Germol has become synonymous with reliability and effectiveness. Whether it's our range of soaps, antiseptic liquid, liquid handwash or other hygiene products, Germol consistently delivers products that help keep families, communities, and businesses safe from germs and infections.




Start of Angola operations

With the start of operations in 2001, we now have 22 depots in total with 9 depots in Luanda, 6 depots in the North region and 7 depots in the South.



Inauguration of Pawane office & warehouse

Pawana office was set up in India in 2001 to build future capabalities for Shalina Healthcare in central warehousing area.



Start of Ghana Operations

With the start of operations in 2001, we now have 5 depots in Ghana situated in Accra, Kumasi, Alfao, Takoradi & Tamale.



Launch of Tanzol

Tanzol (Albendazole) was launched as a convenient single dose treatment to fight all common worm infections which 1 in 2 children in Sub-Saharan Africa are prey to. Though tiny, these worms are known to lead to poor nutrition, anemia, poor growth in children, loss of income opportunities and social stigma.



Start of Nigeria operations

With the start of operations in 1999, we now have 7 depots in Nigeria situated in Lagos, Ibadan, Onitsh, Aba, Kano, Abuja and Uyo. We have now risen to be amongst the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria.



Start of Zambia operations

With the start of operations in 1999, we now have 2 depots in Zambia situated in Lusaka & Kitwe.



Launch of Amidol

Amidol, born from the healthcare needs of its time, emerged as a dedicated fever management solution in the late '90s. Over the years, it has not only remained a stalwart ally in the battle against fever but has also extended its range to address a variety of health needs.



Launch of Betasol

Betasol contains Clobetasol propionate which is the most potent topical corticosteroid. It works effectively on Itching, swelling, scaly patches, redness etc. caused due to tough skin conditions such as such as Dermatitis, Eczema, Psoriasis, Lichen Planus, etc.



Launch of Ibucap

Ibucap was introduced to address a pressing need: the effective relief of various pains and discomforts. For the past 25+ years, it has remained true to its commitment, "Always with you to beat pain”. Its journey is a testament to its commitment to swiftly and effectively alleviate discomfort, making it a symbol of reliability in the realm of pain relief.



Launch of Diproson

Recognizing the urgent need for specialized dermatoses care in Sub-Saharan Africa, we introduced Diproson, which is crafted for diverse skin conditions from seborrheic dermatitis, eczema to psoriasis, and the troubling symptoms of Otitis externa, offering a multifaceted solution in lotion and cream forms.



Foundation of the company by Mr. Shiraz Virji in Kinshasa (DRC)

Shalina Healthcare was founded by Mr. Shiraz Virji in Democratic Republic of the Congo with the aim of providing and improving access to quality healthcare in Africa.



Our Jejuri factory was audited and approved by Food & Drugs Authority, Ghana in 2009. Our initial operations in Ghana were limited to an import and re-export hub in Tema Free Trade Zone to service Ghana and other West African Countries.
