Ketazol Tablets

Ketazol tablets are used to treat stubborn fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and certain kinds of dandruff.

Composition:

Each film coated tablet contains Ketoconazole USP 200mg

Indications:

Ketazol Tablets are indicated for the treatment of systemic fungal infections like candidiasis, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, oral thrush, blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis and histoplasmosis, the treatment of patients with severe recalcitrant cutaneous dermatophyte infections who have not responded to topical therapy or oral griseofulvin and the treatment of serious chronic infections of the skin, hair and nails caused by sensitive dermatophytes and/or yeasts.

Dosage:

Adults: 200mg once daily. Increase to 400mg once daily if clinical response is insufficient. Treatment duration: 14 days and for at least 1 week after symptoms have cleared. Children: ≥ 2 yr: 3.3-6.6 mg/kg daily as a single dose. Treatment duration: 1-2 weeks for candidiasis; at least 4 weeks in recalcitrant dermatophyte infections and up to 6 months for other systemic mycoses.

Side Effects:

Nausea, vomiting, gastro-intestinal complaints, constipation, headache, dizziness, somnolence or drowsiness, photophobia, paraesthesia, thrombocytopenia, exanthema or itching have been reported. Increases in serum liver enzymes may occur. Anaphylactoid reactions, alopecia, urticaria, rash, transient decreased libido, reversible gynaecomastia and oligospermia may occur.
