Composition:

Each film coated tablet contains Azithromycin 500mg 

Indications:

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis  
  • Pharyngitis/tonsillitis  
  • Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections  
  • Urethritis and cervicitis 
  • Genital ulcer disease in men  
  • Community-acquired pneumonia  
  • Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease 
  • Skin and skin structure infections 

Dosage:

Adults  

  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and Otitis media: 500mg once daily for 3 days 
  • Uncomplicated sexually transmitted diseases: Single 1g dose 

Paediatric Patients 

  • Acute Otitis Media: 30mg/kg given as a single dose or 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days or 10mg/kg as a single dose on the first day followed by 5mg/kg /day on Days 2 through 5. 
  • Acute Bacterial Sinusitis: 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days. 
  • Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 10mg/kg as a single dose on the first day followed by 5mg/kg on Days 2 through 5. 

Side Effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The common side effects associated with Azymin are anorexia, constipation, dyspepsia, flatulence, vomiting/diarrhoea, paresthesia, fatigue, malaise and rash.
